Record Farnborough Airshow Reflects Strong Global Confidence in Aerospace Manufacturing, Says ANT Industries

The record-breaking success of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 has underlined the strength of confidence across the global aerospace sector, creating fresh momentum throughout the advanced manufacturing supply chain.

The five-day event welcomed more than 141,000 visitors from 136 countries and generated commercial announcements worth over £63 billion, including 353 firm commercial aircraft orders and 904 engine orders. Alongside the headline deals, the exhibition showcased the technologies, partnerships and engineering expertise that continue to shape the future of civil aviation, defence and space.

For ANT Industries, one of the UK’s leading precision machining specialists supplying complex components to aerospace manufacturers, the scale and optimism of Farnborough reflects an industry investing confidently in long-term production capability.

Managing Director Shaun Rowley believes the event demonstrated not simply the strength of aircraft demand, but the growing importance of resilient, highly capable manufacturing partners throughout the aerospace supply chain.

“Farnborough is always an excellent barometer for our industry, and this year’s event demonstrated tremendous confidence across global aerospace. The level of investment, collaboration and innovation on display reflects a sector that continues to move forward at pace.”

The commercial aircraft and engine commitments announced during the show represent programmes that will require highly engineered precision components over many years, supporting sustained activity across OEMs and Tier One suppliers.

As manufacturers continue to increase production rates while introducing new technologies and materials, precision machining partners are playing an increasingly strategic role in delivering consistent quality, repeatability and production efficiency.

ANT Industries has continued investing in advanced manufacturing technologies to support this demand, expanding its machining capability with the latest multi-axis machining centres, automated inspection systems and wire EDM technology. The company’s ongoing programme of capital investment enables it to manufacture increasingly complex aerospace components to the exacting tolerances demanded by modern aircraft programmes.

Rowley believes investment in manufacturing capability is essential to matching the ambitions demonstrated at events such as Farnborough.

“Every aircraft programme relies on thousands of precision-engineered components manufactured to exceptional standards. Investment in advanced machining technology, digital manufacturing and skilled people allows companies like ours to support customers as production continues to grow.”

Beyond the commercial announcements, Farnborough also highlighted the industry’s continued focus on innovation. Technologies ranging from advanced air mobility and sustainable aviation to defence capability, artificial intelligence and digital manufacturing all featured prominently throughout the exhibition.

The successful debut public flight of Vertical Aerospace’s electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft further illustrated the pace of technological development taking place across the sector.

For Rowley, this spirit of innovation extends well beyond the aircraft themselves.

“Innovation isn’t limited to aircraft design. It is equally important within manufacturing. Every improvement in machining capability, process control, inspection and production efficiency contributes to the performance, quality and reliability of the finished product.”

The airshow also placed significant emphasis on developing future engineering talent through its sold-out Pioneers of Tomorrow programme, bringing thousands of young people together with employers, educators and technology leaders.

As aerospace production continues to expand globally, ANT Industries believes investment in technology, engineering expertise and collaborative partnerships will remain fundamental to supporting the next generation of aircraft programmes.

With confidence across civil aviation, defence and advanced air mobility continuing to strengthen, the company sees the momentum generated at Farnborough as a positive indicator for manufacturers throughout the UK’s world-leading aerospace supply chain.

“The energy across Farnborough reflected an industry looking confidently towards the future,” Rowley concluded. “For precision manufacturers, it reinforces the importance of continuing to invest, innovate and deliver the engineering excellence that underpins every successful aerospace programme.”
